i bet your dream life doesn't cost what you think it does

“what’s the use in even trying or getting started when i’ll never make the money i need to live the life of my dreams?”

few people say this to me directly, but they tell me it through their actions (or lack thereof).

9 times out of 10, when i ask someone what the life of their dreams costs, they give me a number that turns out to be well beyond the actual cost.

how do i know that? because i challenge them to discern what they desire, then to put price tags next to the cost to live that life, then add it all up.

i’ve yet to meet or work with a single person whose actual life cost was even close to the number they threw out in the first place.

and get this: it’s typically not all that far off from what they’re currently making.

maybe it’s 2-4x, but it’s always a number that leaves them saying:

“whoa! i can actually see a pathway to get there!”

and suddenly, the number that felt astronomical feels doable, and a wave of enthusiasm comes over them, as they begin to reverse-engineer their steps to move them towards this goal to fund the life they desire.

i understand that it’s easy to get caught up in the mindset that more is always better when it comes to money.

it’s also easy to delay what you want until you’re making more money.

but then you do, and you still don’t act.

because you didn’t really define what it costs to do what you desire. and because you've gotten into a groove of letting yourself off the hook.

so, let’s do it! i encourage you to spend some time this week getting clear on what you truly want your life to look and feel like. eschew any influence from others that isn’t truly what you want.

then, add up the cost to live that life.

what’s the chasm? meaning: what is the difference between your current income and that amount?

what steps can you start taking today to move you towards it bit by bit via the alignment of your actions to what you say you want, your mindset about its possibility, and your earnings?

then pick one step and take it. once that’s working, add another.

destinations are reached by taking continual steps. as you’re taking them, they won't feel like much. but over time, you’ll see the progress and results of their accumulation.

while we’re on the subject of progress… here’s one of the best counter-intuitive tips i can give you: what you want more of… give more of it, with no strings attached.

i’d love to hear what you’ve mapped out and what steps you’re taking! hit reply and let me know.

to your next steps, darrah
