this will help you make better decisions, every time.
you don’t need permission or data to support the decisions you are guided to make from your intuition. trusting yourself is enough.
(read that again if you blazed through it!)
it’s understandable to want to collect all the data, make a pro/con list, ask a council of your peers, think about every possible outcome, and so on…
but when it really comes down to it, when you strip out the fears of making the wrong choice, of what other people will think if it goes wrong/right, of what you might miss by doing it or not doing it…
what does your gut say? what does the clearest version of you think?
are you in touch with yourself closely enough to be able to decipher what is your voice versus the chorus of others (or, perhaps, the voice of that one person who is always the critic on your shoulder)?
what would it look and feel like if you deeply trusted yourself this much?
years ago, i had a post-it taped to my desk that said, “you can’t control the cards you’re dealt, just how you play the hand” (thank you randy pausch for those wise words).
it was a constant reminder that i didn’t need to know steps 1 through 10 to take step 1, or 2, or 3. i just needed to assess the cards i did have, listen to my own inner wisdom, and take the next step. then rinse and repeat.
i couldn’t always wait for external confirmation, for the stars to align, or for someone to hold up a metaphorical giant arrow pointing me in the right direction.
but here’s what: trusting ourselves also means that we have to slow the F down and pay attention so we can hear our inner voices in the first place. that could be through mediation, getting into nature, exercising, cooking, taking drives, journaling, or whatever else gets you in a place where you can just be.⠀
so, for today: will you join me in doing one thing that allows you to slow down for long enough to hear your inner voice?
if you need some help doing that, here are two resources:

watch this conversation with deepak chopra and myself on tapping into the wisdom of your body.
speaking of deepak: in our first conversation (which you can hear by downloading our free masterclass here), he shared with me that he once asked the president of sony worldwide how he had such an impeccable track-record. he replied that his decision-making was easy. he’d think about the decision at hand, drink herbal tea, and if he felt good, he said ‘yes’. if he felt indigestion, he said ‘no’. this is a really powerful and simple explanation of how our bodies expand when something is a ‘yes’, and contract when it’s a ‘no’. or... stay neutral if it’s not obvious, the question isn’t ready to be answered, or it’s not clear enough…
