what's your business trying to teach you?

have you considered that your business is one of your greatest teachers?

i, for one, can attest to this. each of my businesses has been a mirror that, second to my primary relationship and child, has been a classroom for me to learn about myself more deeply.

today’s guest on your business hotline’, claire, can say the same.

she owns a pr company for purpose-driven brands and desires to be the sole earner in her family so her husband can stay at home with their son.

despite growing sales year-over-year, for the first time, they dipped in 2024 causing cashflow challenges. plus, she was diagnosed with autism this year and is learning about her neurodivergence.

her goal was to hit $1,000,000 in top-line revenue… until we got into the conversation and she realized that it wasn’t really her desire because it's not rooted in her values (which include security and freedom).

as is true for many people, claire is stuck in the cycles of fear and ‘what ifs’, scarcity-based money ideas, and is leaning too far into her perfectionistic tendencies (she’d agree).

when illuminated, she sees what’s possible and focuses on the ‘data over the drama’ (as my co-host kate says) to focus on what’s actually true versus letting her mind chatter take over (can you relate?).

in this episode, we help her make a plan to get her revenue back up and do so in a way that aligns with the type of business she both wants to run and is best-suited to run.

we talk about building communities for and of past and current clients, creating greater top-of-mindedness, building out referral partnerships, and affiliate revenue streams for referrals she sends out.

whether or not you do, i invite you to ask yourself: what is my business (or life if you’re not a business owner) trying to teach me?

to your growth in all ways, darrah

ps at the end of the episode we catch up with casey from season 1 who came to us with hang-ups about selling. she returns to share how she’s grown and what you can learn from it, too. listen here.
